When we designed the six heroes of Starfall Catastrophe, each one needed to answer a fundamental question: how do you fight a cosmic signal that rewrites reality?
Doctor Boon builds jammers. Nyra lights purifying fires. Virelia lets the forest outlast the infection. Ember Glow burns the compromised. Arkhelios Dragon embraces the signal entirely.
Sel? Sel reads it.
Sel of the Luminous is not what you expect from a TCG hero. She is a fairy — barely six inches tall, with wings like spun gold and eyes that glow with captured starlight. She carries the Aethernova Quill, a crystalline writing instrument taller than her entire body, and she tends the Cosmic Codex, a book of recorded knowledge so massive she needs to fly between its pages.
In a roster that includes a cybernetic doctor, a fire priestess, a forest guardian, a vengeance warrior, and a cosmic dragon, Sel is deliberately the strangest. She is the smallest character on the field. She has the lowest Shield in the game. And she deals the most damage.
Her faction mechanic is Codex Scaling — every Action card in her discard pile permanently increases the damage of her next Action by +2. With her Resonance Keeper ally on the field, this doubles to +4. Combined with her Skill stat of 5 (the highest in the roster, giving a +50% boost to all Actions), Sel's damage output compounds with every spell she casts.
The catch? She starts with only 30 Shield. One bad turn and she's gone. A fairy's body is fragile. A fairy's mind is not.
Before the Starfall, the Luminous were a civilization of fairies who tended the world's oldest library — a vast repository of knowledge carved into crystallized starlight. When the cosmic signal shattered its walls, most of the Luminous scattered. Sel stayed. She began reading the signal itself, and her breakthrough was realizing that the infection converted variance into uniformity. Her counter-weapon was the opposite: deliberate dissonance, inscriptions in starfire that the signal cannot overwrite.
Arkhelios Dragon could swallow Sel whole. She could rewrite him from the inside.
Sel joins Doctor Boon, High Priestess Nyra, and Virelia as the fourth hero with a complete deck design. Two heroes remain — Ember Glow and Arkhelios Dragon. The Codex grows.
